At the mouth of Kalaja Cave lies a sparkling pool roughly 7 m wide, 22 m across, and 2 to 3 m deep fed by a hidden subterranean spring that maintains a cool, clear flow, even in dry season. Inside the cave unfolds into three chambers with the deepest stretch totaling 209 m. Tunnels and bunkers relics left behind by Japanese forces during WWII dotted the area blending natural wonder with wartime history.

How To Get There?

Location: Barangay Conel, General Santos City, South Cotabato, Mindanao, Philippines

  • Via Car: From General Santos City, head north via the Conel to Olympog Road for about 13 km toward Barangay Conel. Follow the road signs leading to the Kalaja Karst Area. The drive takes around 30 to 40 minutes depending on traffic and road conditions. A private vehicle is recommended as the site is located in an upland area with limited public transformation access. Parking spaces are available near the jump off point.
  • Via Commute: From General Santos City Bulaong Terminal, take a jeepney or a tricycle bound for Barangay Conel. Upon arrival at the barangay hire a habal-habal to take you to the Kalaja Karst Area jump off point. The fare is around ₱50.00 to ₱100.00 per person. Since public transport schedules are irregular, it’s best to coordinate with your driver for the return trip.
